The Valle delle Ferriere State Nature Reserve was established in 1972 and is named after an ancient factory that mined iron from the ore. The Canneto River crosses it creating waterfalls. The route inside the reserve goes from the Lattari Mountains towards Amalfi, through woods and streams. The last part of the route features water-powered mills used for the production of Amalfi paper.
The journey takes about an hour and it starts from Pontone/Scala, few meters distant from Palazzo San Giovanni, a hamlet of Scala, reachable by bus or on foot.
